The #92 was
spotted again at the $30,000 to win wingless show at
Oskaloosa, Iowa. Daron finished 16th in the feature
event.

DC picked
himself up a ride driving the Tom Busch # 4 at Tri State
Speedway for the MSCS show. Daron finished 18th in the
feature.
07.25.08 -- The first appearance of the #92 was
at Gas City Speedway! Everybody was pumped to see DC
back in the familiar machine which the fans love so
well. The return was not so good as Daron would finish
13th in the B main.

USAC's
Indiana Sprintweek is always a tough string of races.
Long hot days and hard work is the theme. Last year Daron picked up two sprintweek wins in two different
cars! Gas City in the Hoffman # 69 and Tri State in the
Walker # 11. This year things took a little turn as they
say. 19th and 25th at Lawrenceburg, 15th at Gas City,
17th at Kamp, and a 20th at Haubstadt is how the week
went.

Daron and
the Truckers team loaded up for an MSCS weekend of fun
and excitement. Paducah, Kentucky was the first stop.
Things kicked off to a great start as DC won his heat
race. In the feature he battled with Robert Ballou for
the lead. Daron and Ballou swapped the lead. Ballou
retook the lead. Daron was trying to run him down as
both drivers hit the wall coming off of turn two. Daron
broke the jacobs ladder resulting in an 11th place
finish.
Night #
2 put the team at one of DC's favorite racetracks Tri
State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana. Daron was awesome
in his heat running all fours wheels above the cushion
giving his all thrilling the "Clayton Nation" atop the
backshoot bleachers. Daron ran 2nd in the heat. The
feature was wild as always. Daron was fighting his way
towards the front until contact with another car ended
Darons night while running 4th. No doubt Daron was on
his way to another win.

Daron
and the Truckers team set sail to Gas City I-69 Speedway
in Gas City Friday night. Things got off to a
great start as DC won his heat race from the second row.
The redraw for the feature put Daron starting in the 8th
spot. DC was doing everything he could with the tough
Gas City field and race track. He managed to bring it
home in 6th spot. Saturday night at the new Lawrenceburg
things took a negative turn. While racing in the heat
Daron was checked out leading when the motor decided it
didn't want to run as good as the night before. Daron
went to the pits and it was later determined that the
engine had a burnt piston.

USAC
took the National Sprinters to the high banked half mile
for the final night of "Border Wars." Daron timed in
14th quick. In the heat race, Daron finished 7th! He had
to battle back in the semi where he finished 3rd. In the
feature Daron was up to his old tricks. He was finding
his groove and slide jobbing his way towards the front.
When it was all said and done DC finished in the 5th
place spot. Daron's luck is starting to turn around and
he is putting up some solid finishes. Sprintweek is
right around the corner!

What a
crazy week it has been for Daron Clayton. The Truckers
team headed east for the USAC National Sprint Tour in
which the series would visit 4 tracks in 2 states. After
missing the show at Grandview, raining out Williams
Grove and then crashing at Big Diamond, Daron wants to
just forget about the east coast swing all together. The
Truckers team decided to skip Hagerstown and head to
Haubstadt for the KISS show. It is a good thing they did
because Daron finally got the monkey off of his back for
2008. After what has been a tough start to the season,
winning at Haubstadt was the shot in the arm he needed
and the team needed.

The
Truckers team headed to another one of DC's favorite
tracks. Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana is a
tight and sticky 1/4 mile that displays incredible
racing action. Daron won his heat and looked to be a
strong contender for a feature win. Daron started on the
pole and lead the first half of the race until the
breaks on the # 10 went soft and Daron fell to 5th when
the checkered dropped. It was disappointing running 5th
after leading half the race however Daron and team have
two top 5's in a row and they will ride that momentum
into Bloomington this Friday for the KISS show.

The
Memorial Day Weekend of racing kicked off at Daron's
favorite racetrack, the Terre Haute Action Track. The
track was in great shape! Daron timed in 20th in
qualifications. Daron fell back in the heat and never
recovered and one spot out of the transfer spot in 5th.
In the B-main DC bicycled in turn 1 and dropped all the
way to the tail of the field. Daron is not a quitter. He
ripped the top down and came from DEAD LAST in the semi
and nabbed the final transfer on the last corner! In the
feature Daron had his spurs on and they were "clanking"
off the torque tube! He fought and clawed his way to an
impressive 4th place finish from the back!

Daron was
excited and totally pumped for the opening KISS show at
Gas City. The heat race went well as he scored the win
in an exciting battle with Brady Short. In the main
event things were going great. DC was running in third
until an early A-main restart. The field barreled down
into the first set of corners. The Truckers # 10 hooked
up high off the second turn and Daron wheelied into a
horrifying flip. It took two hard licks to cage during
the flip. It took a few moments for Daron to exit the
car. He did get out of the machine under his own
power. The car will need some TLC before the Terre Haute
this Thursday. It's hard to keep a cowboy down. Look for
DC to bounce back and land in victory lane ASAP!

With
rain moving through Indiana once again, it washed out
virtually everything. The team decided to go to Tri
State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana. This is a tight,
tacky, high bank 1/4 mile where Daron has success at. He
has won here multiple times. Everyone was very confident
going into the race. DC finished 2nd in his heat. Daron
was running towards the front in the A-main and took the
lead on lap 18. Three laps later Daron had to give up
the lead and drop out of the event with a mechanical
failure. Daron was credited with 12th place. |
